Groove Giant uses Short-time Fourier Transforms to decode musical audio into pitches, and converts those pitches into a sheet music stream. Then, it uses algorithms to analyze the transcription.

Hey! My name is Mohit Kalia, a senior at Bergen County Academies High School in New Jersey. As a saxophonist, I struggled a lot with transcribing solos when starting out in jazz, particularly my own. Transcribing your own solos is incredibly valuable in analyzing and improving your own improvisation, but it’s also time-consuming and difficult, especially as a beginner. Thus, I developed Groove Giant, an app that solves that issue and encourages beginners to keep transcribing.
